Casual observations:

Labor Day in a non-Union state is not as much fun… where are the parties, where are the parades, where are the crazy politicians?

Carolinians don’t know pizza. And Mineos doesn’t deliver 400 miles away.

Santa Claus does exist. When ever I write something down on my to-do or to-buy list, my dad & my brother Joe make it happen (“ta-da”). Wow… next time I’m gotta write, “Mazerati”… but first I’ve gotta figure out how to spell it.

We haven’t met too many native Carolinians yet; it’s kinda strange when I’m more native to the area than anyone around me.

There were a lot of “first’s” this week…*first soccer game – R is playing soccer with the YMCA, and joined the team for their first game. He had a great game & brought home a win! (fyi, R’s soccer coach is from Scott Township & graduated from CV)*first time to walk to/from school. It’s ¾ mile to the bus stop; or 1 mile to the school. Hmmm… guess we’re walking. Our walks have been a great time to talk & exercise together.

*first day of school – School was a “little scary; kinda awkward; different than CV. Okay.”

R is in a year-round schedule elementary school. R is adjusting quickly to the change. He assures us that he’s not behind (even though he’s already missed 4 weeks of school); cuz’ he looked at the back of the math book, and he’s already “done all that stuff”.

C is taking to the change a little slower. But she’s happier now that she switched out of Band and into Art (especially since she doesn’t play any instrument). Now, if she can just get out of 2nd semester “Dance”, she and her two left feet will feel even better. C has signed up for after school golf & tennis too. We’re hoping to get a weekly family golf outing started.

*first out-of-town visitors – D’s parents arrived. They win the first o-o-t visitor award.

The Good Guys from South Hills Movers

We’ve closed on our house; so we’re no longer hobos.
The movers moved swiftly; but where anything is, who knows?

The family troops arrived to unpack and to clean.

The house is coming together; and looking great, I mean.

We’re eating and eating, non-stop, it seems …

Time to Eat the Donut

With Uncle Joe’s deliveries of donuts and Boston Cremes.

We ended the week with fireworks at the lake.

Just another fun outing and memories to make.

11:00am – Left ET & CB (et al.) and drove off to Raleigh.

11:35am – Finally stopped crying.

12:00pm – Don got to give Ed Rendell one final “farewell” gesture.

7:45pm – We arrived to the entire Ng clan, waiting to welcome us “Home”.

c) Mix up some Margarita’s with the CB, Cathy M, Lynne & Roselle.

The moving truck is packed and has pulled away.

Our house looks so empty and bare today.

This last day of work will mix memories and tears.

So ends a legacy of 75 years.

The kids say we’re homeless, or hobos, or bums.

But we’re lucky to find shelter in the Sewickley slums.

This move thing is starting to become too real.

Is it excitement or exhaustion or panic that I feel?
